Jackie Thow’s introspective drawings ask us to face our own humanity and investigate our own perceptions of ourselves and those around us. Her drawings show the figures as expressions, lone images of the human forcing an intimate connection with the person in the canvas.
“Having graduated from Gray's School of Art where I specialised in Printed Textiles & Surface Pattern Design, I have experimented with various mediums and now find the fundamental process of drawing to be the most powerful and expressive. I’ve found charcoal and pastel to be the most direct materials and I use these for their versatility and tactile characteristics. The human face is an endless source of inspiration - I am intrigued by the differences and similarities faces share and how an expression, be it intended or otherwise, can be so communicative.” – Jackie Thow
The exhibition will run for two weeks from the 21st of June until the 4th July
Opening evening view 20th June, 5pm (all welcome), free refreshments.
